Black Torn-Cutout Lidded Jar

Round, black and quiet until you reach the shoulder, where the wall has been cut away in ragged openings that look torn rather than drawn. At the edges of each gap the black gives way to a reddish brown. A shallow lid with a small black knob closes the top, and the contrast between that neat lid and the broken wall below is the whole idea.
