Honest Materials · Skilled Hands · Built to Last
Craft that
earns its place.
Objects shaped from real materials by people who have spent years learning them. You can feel the difference the moment you pick one up.
Our Philosophy
“We work in close partnership with communities of artisan makers — people who have devoted their lives to one material and genuinely mastered it.”
Sonae was born from a belief that Thailand holds one of the world's richest concentrations of artisan craft. Mango wood from ancient orchards. Clay from fertile riverbeds. Rattan from managed forests. Plant-dyed textile from village weavers. These materials were waiting for someone who knew how to find them.
We are a bridge between craftsmen working in family workshops and homes that want objects with meaning. Each collection has its own material, process, and maker community — but all are held together by the same belief: that what is made by hand, from honest materials, is worth owning.
This is Sonae — the heart of Thailand in one place. One philosophy. The best of what Thai hands can make.
What we stand for
The Sonae standard
01
Material Honesty
Every piece shows what it is. No stains to hide grain. No coatings to mask texture. The material speaks for itself.
02
One Craftsman
Each piece passes through a single set of hands. Not a factory line. One person, one object, from raw material to finished piece.
03
End-of-Life Ethics
Materials sourced only at the natural end of their primary life. Trees after harvest. Clay from riverbanks. Rattan from managed growth.
04
No Piece Twice
Variation is not a defect. Every grain pattern, every glaze break, every weave irregularity is evidence that something real was made.
