Deep vertical gouges run around the sides of this squat jar and end in a scalloped edge, so from above the rim opens like a flower. The flat top shows the growth rings of the wood. Set into it is a paler lid with a fluted white knob on a gold-toned base, the light centre sitting clearly against the brown.

Every piece is made by hand, so no two are exactly alike. Yours will follow the design you see here, with small differences in shape, colour and texture that make it one of a kind. That is the beauty of handcraft, not a flaw.
