The top edge has been left as the tree had it: rough, uneven, darker than the body and sloping from one side to the other. Below it the vase is smooth and tapers steadily towards a narrow base, showing a warm honey grain and a few small marks. That contrast between rough rim and smooth wall is the point, and it shows best when seen from slightly above.

Every piece is made by hand, so no two are exactly alike. Yours will follow the design you see here, with small differences in shape, colour and texture that make it one of a kind. That is the beauty of handcraft, not a flaw.
