Carved with a repeating groove pattern that runs the full curve of the outer wall. The cutting happens after the bowl is turned, so every groove crosses the grain at a slightly different angle — catching light along one edge and holding shadow in the next. Wide and shallow at 35 across and 18 deep: bread, fruit, or an evening's worth of keys and post by the door. Groove depth varies by a millimetre or so across a single piece. Left unstained the pattern reads as texture rather than decoration; taken dark the stain sits deepest in the cut grooves and stays shallow on the ridges between them, so the carving looks deeper than it measures. Dark shows dust and water marks more readily than pale does, which is the trade for that depth.

No two pieces are ever the same — and that's the point. Every tree yields its own colour, grain, and character, meaning the piece you receive may vary slightly in tone or form from the image shown. These differences are not imperfections. They are proof that a craftsman's hands shaped real wood from a real tree — and that your piece exists nowhere else on earth.
